A new couple and their families reckon with modern love amid culture clashes, societal expectations and generational differences. Thirty-five year-old Ezra Cohen and his friend Mo broadcast a podcast that touches upon African-American issues. On Yom Kippur, he dutifully goes with his parents and sister to their synagogue, where he is barraged with inappropriate questions and comments from the congregation and his family. He is set up by his parents to go on a date with a young woman from the same synagogue. The date goes poorly.

Meeting Mo later, Ezra expresses his frustration at not meeting anyone that he can connect to. Meanwhile, Amira Mohammed is across town trying to break up with a boyfriend. She, frustrated with her GPS navigation system, pulls up in front of Ezra’s brokerage firm. Ezra climbs into her car, accidentally believing she’s his Uber driver. After a brief miscommunication Ezra asks Amira on a date.
